A woman once made a healing blanket for herself while in the process of healing from her own health challenges and ended up gifting it to someone in need when she found out their husband was in the hospital trying to heal from a life threatening health issue. She saw the power of her act of kindness in the eyes of the person she gifted it to as she watched their eyes fill with tears and felt a positive shift in their exhausted energy. She then looked to the left and saw their husbands eyes fill with tears as he whispered “thank you for doing that, don’t ever change.” There was a healing that took place that day for all involved, including herself. The blanket went home with a woman who now sat with her healing blanket wrapped around her while she adjusted to her empty house that used to be full. Even though it was her husband in the hospital, she needed support and healing too. The blanket was filled with love, with comfort, and with warmth.
I made my first healing blanket at a workshop in Peterborough, ON that was hosted by the Wapiti Metis Council. I am honoured to have gifted it to a woman who needed a cozy hug and am grateful to have found the inspiration to bring Ontario communities together. May we work together to create the largest ripple effect of joy and love possible!
